Last week we had an Earth Day celebration at my work, where 10 EV drivers brought their EVs to display and answer questions. The most common question was “How much do the cars cost?” I’ve decided to do a quick comparison on the cheapest EVs available today.
When I leased my Honda Fit EV in August 2012, I went to a Nissan and Ford dealership and neither of them could offer me a LEAF or Focus EV for less than the Fit EV. However, in just 8 months there are now three EVs available for less than the Fit EV.
The prices below are manufacturers leases and MSRP and do not include any state, federal, or local incentives. Prices available in your area may be different. There are many limited time specials at specific dealerships, so check with your local dealership for the most accurate numbers. For example, I have heard of Nissan LEAFs leasing for as low as $69/month (though that offer has now expired).
