Top automakers showcase Nissan Ariya, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Volkswagen ID.4

The Ford Mustang Mach-E, Nissan Ariya, and the Volkswagen ID.4 are all excepted to hit showroom floors in 2021! This year during National Drive Electric Week (NDEW), our online event, New EVs – First Look, featured in-depth previews of these upcoming EVs with representatives from Ford, Nissan, and Volkswagen. Watch a recording of this webinar below.

Here are some exciting features we learned about each vehicle:

Nissan Ariya

  • Nissan’s first EV crossover
  • Range: up to 300 miles
  • 0-60 mph in under five seconds
  • Driver assist technology with hands-free, eyes-on capabilities
  • Over the air updates

Ford Mustang Mach-E

  • 300 miles of range
  • 10 speakers, including an Externally Coupled Subwoofer (ECS)
  • Over the air updates and driver assist technology
  • Cellphone replaces classic key fob
  • Conventional door handle replaced with a button that pops the door open

Volkswagen ID.4

  • 250 miles of range
  • 2,700 pounds towing capacity
  • 30.3 cu. ft cargo space
  • 10 or 12-inch center display
  • Gesture control and wireless cellphone charging

Plug In America was thrilled to feature three different automakers back to back. This event was yet another indicator of a growing EV market, as major automakers now compete in the same vehicle class, price range, and electric driving range. Perhaps no one should be more excited than consumers, who now have an entirely new vehicle market to choose from.

Consumers are looking for more than an environmentally-friendly car. They also want to feel the joy of driving a high-performance vehicle on a long stretch of road, save money, and visit the repair shop as little as possible.

National Drive Electric Week gives consumers the opportunity to learn about EVs not only from automakers, but also from their neighbors who are already driving EVs. These conversations allow consumers to look for a vehicle they can trust. This year’s NDEW was no different, with EV owners participating in many of the 150 online events across 42 US states.

Holding a space for neighbor to neighbor conversations and showcasing new vehicles allows NDEW to make EVs accessible and highlight their unique benefits. In a year of social distancing and the first-ever virtual NDEW, we hope New EVs – First Look helped inspire both long-time drivers and the EV curious. In the many years to come, we look forward to hosting more accessible, brand-neutral, online events like this.
