Utility transportation electrification education and outreach programs to be examined in webinar

NATIONWIDE – A webinar will be held on Tuesday, January 12 to discuss a white paper recently released by the Alliance for Transportation Electrification (ATE) and Plug In America, The Missing Piece on Meeting Transportation Electrification Goals: Utility Education and Outreach Programs. The white paper, a collaborative effort from the ATE’s subcommittee on education and outreach (E&O), examines the current state of E&O in the transportation electrification (TE) sector and lays the foundation for why utility investment in E&O is the missing piece to achieving widespread TE goals in a state or region.

WHAT: A discussion of utility education and outreach programs in the transportation electrification sector

WHEN: Tuesday, January 12 at 3 pm ET/noon PT

WHERE: Free registration at PlugInAmerica.org/policy/webinar-utility-education-outreach-programs/

WHO: Moderator: Nick Nigro, Atlas Public Policy

Panelists:

    • Lisa Arellanes, Southern California Edison
    • Josh Boone, Veloz
    • Jamie Hall, General Motors
    • Katherine Stainken, Plug In America

WHY: Policymakers are pushing forward with bold policies and programs that encourage and support the transition to transportation electrification. Yet despite these policies, one of the remaining barriers to greater adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is a lack of education and awareness by consumers and fleet operators. What has been done to date in the area of education and awareness of these vehicles, and which programs have worked the best? Furthermore, while utilities have been engaging in the build-out of EV infrastructure, what should be their role in terms of education and awareness as this transition to transportation electrification occurs? Attendees will learn the current activities on EV education and awareness and will understand the role of the utility as well.
