Despite what the President may think, climate change is real; it’s an existential threat to our society; and it requires our utmost attention and determination right now. Pulling out of the Paris Accord, signed by nearly every country on Earth, is a tremendous step in the wrong direction.
The good news is that we know how to address it through clean energy, electrified transportation and changes in land use. We already have the right tools. We know how to use them. And best of all, none of this is particularly expensive—especially compared to the alternative.
Electric vehicles are a central part of the solution to climate change. But there are also plenty of other reasons to love them. They clean up local air pollution. They promote American jobs. They are more convenient and cheaper to fuel and maintain. They keep our energy dollars at home. And they are just a better ride. Which is why they are broadly supported by people in all parts of the political spectrum.

So, we need to lead. We need to just keep pushing, regardless of what the President decides to do or not do. Keep talking to your friends about electric cars. Keep taking people for rides. (It’s a subversive act!) Consider leading an event for National Drive Electric Week. And of course, please keep helping Plug In America execute our mission with your financial support whenever you can.
