On Thursday, May 2, Plug In America hosted the third annual Capitol Hill EV Ride & Drive for members of Congress and their staff, in partnership with the Senate Auto Caucus. The event included the latest models of plug-in vehicles and showed elected officials why driving electric is a better option for all Americans.
We facilitated more than 80 test drives during the daylong event, giving people the opportunity to experience the smooth ride and fast acceleration of EVs first-hand.
While in Washington, D.C., Plug In America Executive Director Joel Levin and Policy Director Katherine Stainken also visited the offices of many senators and representatives to continue urging Congress to pass an extension of the federal EV tax credit.
“EVs provide so many benefits for Americans, from cleaner air to the economy to better performance,” said Levin. “While Congress is considering extending the tax credit, there couldn’t be a better time to get officials behind the wheel.”
Please urge your senator or representative to support extending the EV tax credit to work for more drivers for a longer period of time by passing the Driving America Forward Act.
Many thanks to our sponsors of the event, Audi/Volkswagen, Edison Electric Institute, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, General Motors, PEPCO, Southern Company, and Tesla.
