Plug In America applauds executive order electrifying the federal fleet
LOS ANGELES—Yesterday, President Joe Biden signed an executive order aimed at combating our global climate crisis. Among the measures included in this order was a directive to make the entire federal fleet zero-emission by 2035 and all federal light-duty vehicles zero-emission by 2027.
In response, Plug In America Executive Director Joel Levin released the following statement:
“We are very pleased that the president has taken this monumental step on the path to full transportation electrification. By transitioning the federal government’s fleet of more than 600,000 cars and trucks to electric vehicles, we will not only reduce the amount of air pollution that our communities breathe, but we will also spur more innovation and production in the electric vehicle industry. Electric vehicles are good for consumers, good for our economy, and good for our nation and planet. At a time when climate change is causing devastation around the world, the time is now to shift to clean electric transportation.
“We encourage Congress to pass the Build Back Better Act with the full EV funding that the president proposed. We also encourage all Americans to make their voices heard and contact their members of Congress at RealEVChange.org.”
