Plug In America supporters tell Congress to pass $174 billion in transportation electrification funding

LOS ANGELES—In March, President Biden put forward a bold plan to invest $174 billion in electrifying the nation’s transportation system. The transformation this would bring cannot be overstated. Now it appears that this number has been cut down to $5 billion for electric vehicle (EV) charging and $2.5 billion for zero-emission school buses, and zero funding for purchase incentives, as details emerge from the recently negotiated bipartisan infrastructure bill in the Senate.

Plug In America supporters, disappointed by the limited funding in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework, are calling on Congress and the White House to make up the difference in the budget reconciliation bill and fully fund President Biden’s $174 billion transportation electrification funding package. EV drivers and other supporters can also take action and contact their members of Congress at https://pluginamerica.salsalabs.org/federalactionalert20210729/index.html.
