NATIONWIDE – Today, Plug In America, the Sierra Club, the Electrification Coalition, and Forth released two national guides designed to accelerate the switch to clean, electric vehicles (EVs) and e-mobility in an effective and equitable way by providing various stakeholders with model policies at the state, local, and utility levels.
This year’s resources are separated into two separate guides: Solutions for Expanding EV Charging and Solutions for Expanding Equitable Access to EVs and E-Mobility.
The guides show the power of state leadership for clean transportation, highlighting several detailed examples from locations across the nation where policies have had a stellar track record. This is the sixth edition of AchiEve, originally released in 2017. You can view past guides here.
“States and local governments are invaluable to ensure no one is left behind in the transition to clean transportation,” said Joel Levin, Plug In America executive director. “There are incredible benefits of increased EV adoption, not just for individuals and businesses but for entire communities. Beyond cost savings and convenience, neighborhoods can enjoy cleaner air and improved public health outcomes, which strengthens their communities.”
“It’s more important than ever that advocates are harnessing the power of local and state leadership to maintain progress on clean transportation,” said Katherine García, director of the Sierra Club’s Clean Transportation for All campaign. “These AchiEVe Guides provide the tools to point to what is working and give concrete examples of policy at play that is helping people save money, deliver cleaner air, and improve mobility in communities across the country.”
“Increasingly, state and local transportation agencies are key in advancing transportation electrification across the country,” notes Jeff Allen, Executive Director of Forth. “Toolkits such as AchiEVe provide proven best practices based on real-world experience to help communities increase access to the benefits of electric transportation for all of their residents, businesses, and visitors.”
“Local, state and federal funds are being deployed around the country to create jobs that will ensure the U.S. remains competitive in the global shift to EVs,” said Ben Prochazka, executive director of the Electrification Coalition. “The AchiEVe toolkit is an important resource to give communities some of the important policies that will ensure these investments accelerate transportation electrification and strengthen our economic and national security.”
