I don’t even think about range anymore – John L.

John L.

For the past six years, I have been driving two, Gen1 Volts and have been quite satisfied. More than satisfied, these have been the best vehicles that I have ever driven! My average of electric driving has been consistently 85% as my local driving was all-electric and then when I took an extended trip I would get 31mpg on the highway.

These Volts have been trouble-free and perfect for my needs. That said, I had an itch to go all-electric but an affordable vehicle with decent range was not available yet. Chevrolet comes to the rescue with a promise to produce an affordable EV with a 200-mile range. True to their promise they deliver the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt. I called all the local dealers and put my name down for the list to lease a new Bolt. Still waiting for the “possible” rollout in May or June I found a dealer who had trucked in some Bolts from other states. I couldn’t believe my luck in finding this ad! The trip was 168 miles to the other coast of Florida. In the past, I would have had to map a recharge point midway to get back home. Not this time. After all the paperwork was finished the Bolt had only been charged to an estimated 189 miles of range. Believing totally in the quality of Chevrolet EVs after my two Volts…. I went for it. The trip was almost all highway and I reduced my speed some (65) to be cautious about the range. It was warm out, about 84 degrees, and I was running the AC the whole way. The bottom line? I had 34 estimated miles left when I pulled into my driveway.

Driving this new Chevy Bolt is simply fantastic! It is fast, responsive, has lots of room inside and I don’t even think about range anymore.  This is the EV that I have always been waiting for and I’m extremely happy to have acquired it!!
