Liesl is passionate about environmental conservation, sustainability, effective communication, and building teams and community. These passions have shaped her professional journey and led her to the position of Senior Program Manager. At Plug in America, Liesl focuses on managing strategic event campaigns, promoting partner relationships, and supporting the events team’s work within various communities.
Liesl studied ecology at the University of Georgia and later earned her MA in experiential education at Prescott College. She worked for over 15 years as an education manager for the Phoenix Zoo. She led multiple teams focused on youth, family, adult, outreach, school, and educator programs and summer and overnight camps. More recently, Liesl was working in human resources focused on recruiting for Arizona’s largest nonprofit, working to end homelessness through emergency shelter and supportive services. She has served on the Conservation Education Committee of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and on the Advisory Board for Arizona State University’s Career and Professional Development Services.
Liesl lives in Phoenix, Arizona, and enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, and gardening. Due to a deep appreciation for patterns in nature, desert landscapes, wildlife, and quirky finds around town, and when traveling, she is an avid (yet amateur!) photographer.
