Alisa Simmons

Commissioner Alisa Simmons is a devoted public servant invested in improving community
access to government services in the areas of transportation, affordable housing, criminal
justice, economic development, and other critical issues.

Commissioner Simmons is a proud mother, entrepreneur, and community activist. She
graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a degree in Journalism, and was a journalist
for 12 years, before transitioning to a career in public safety where she spent 22-years as a
county 9-1-1 administrator, supporting dispatch operations of all Tarrant County EMS,
police, and fire departments.

Outside of her professional career, Commissioner Simmons has dedicated herself to our
community. Her leadership was frequently sought after, which led her to serve on the
Arlington Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, the Chisholm Trail Chapter of the
American Red Cross Board of Directors, a 10-year member of the YMCA Arlington Board of
Directors, President of the Arlington NAACP, First Vice President of Texas NAACP, and a member of the ACLU of Texas Board of Directors.
