LOS ANGELES, CA – Plug In America is pleased to announce its recent hire of Katherine Stainken, who will join the Plug In America team as its Policy Director working remotely from Sacramento, CA. In this role, Katherine will focus on promoting policies and programs nationwide that revolutionize the transportation sector and encourage more electric vehicles on the road.

“I am thrilled to join the Plug In America team as its policy director,” said Stainken. “As the consumer voice for plug-in vehicles across the country, Plug In America works to ensure that the concerns of the public and plug-in vehicle drivers are always represented in policy discussions, at the federal, state, and local levels. I am excited to serve in this new position and utilize my professional talents to support the Plug In America mission. Already nearly 500,000 drivers have made the switch to driving electric, and this is just the start!”

Prior to Plug In America, Stainken served as Director of Government Affairs at the Solar Energy Industries Association where she focused on policies to promote solar at the federal level. In this role, Katherine also served as the lead staff on the organization’s response to the EPA’s Clean Power Plan.

A graduate of Boston College, Katherine received her Masters in Global Environmental Policy from American University. She is a Fulbright and ThinkSwiss scholar and a current member of the Emerging Leaders in Environmental and Energy Policy Network.
