Plug In America applauds the new national EV charging network
WASHINGTON—Today, the U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. Department of Energy announced the creation of a new $5 billion national electric vehicle (EV) charging network established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
In response, Plug In America Executive Director Joel Levin released the following statement:
“Clean electric vehicles must be accessible to all Americans. That requires a major increase in the EV charging infrastructure to meet the demand. We are excited that Secretary Buttigieg and Secretary Granholm are taking the steps necessary to build out the charging network that is necessary to give all consumers, including those without access to charging at home or work, the confidence to switch to EVs and create cleaner air in our communities. While there are some details to be resolved with additional language, this is a good start. I was deeply honored to be invited to today’s announcement in Washington, and look forward to working with and connecting federal, state, tribal and local partners and policymakers to ensure that EV charging is accessible to all Americans.”
