Individual Giving Consultant, Part-Time, Six-Month Assignment

Overview
Plug In America is the national consumer voice for electric vehicles (EVs). We are a growing 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works on consumer and auto dealer outreach and engagement, EV awareness, policy advocacy, and member services.
Plug In America is seeking a consultant for a six-month term (with possible extension) to build a multi-channel individual giving program. The consultant would be expected to create a plan including all elements of an individual giving program and then work with Plug In America staff on the implementation of the program. The consultant would not be expected to implement the full program, but rather to engage with the team and provide support, direction and consultation on it.
Expected elements would include the following, but this is open to modification based on the consultant’s recommendations for appropriate channels to pursue.
- Growing our mailing list and generating more donations from it
- Using direct mail
- Making better use of our events programs for fundraising
- Using social media and other paid advertising channels for fundraising
- Building our annual giving program
- Creating a larger and stronger pool of major gift donors
- Establishing a planned giving program
The consultant should have a demonstrated track record of working with non-profit organizations to successfully grow individual giving programs including the types of elements mentioned above.
We expect that this work will take approximately 10-20 hours per week for six months for a proposed fee of $5,000 per month. In addition to a detailed strategy, we expect that, by the end of this time, various elements of the plan will be in implementation by the permanent Plug In America staff with guidance and support from the consultant, such that the work can continue after the end of the consulting period.
