The 2017 XC60 T8 Plug-in Hybrid is a PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) Compact Crossover SUV. The front wheels of the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid are driven by a five-cylinder 2.0-litre supercharged and turbocharged gasoline engine, while the rear axle features the ERAD (Electric Rear Axle Drive) System in the form of an electric motor, which receives its power from a 10.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.  Together, the hybrid Twin-Engine powertrain produces a combined 407 horsepower, and 472 lb-ft of torque that accelerates the SUV from zero to sixty in 4.9 seconds.  The XC90 features a eight-speed automatic transmission.  Three driving modes will allow the driver to adjust the XC90’s power and performance to their liking; Pure, which offers as much electric power as possible; Hybrid, which uses both diesel and battery power in an efficient manner; and Power, which combines the diesel engine and electric motor to offer the quickest acceleration.  The XC90 T8 has an all-electric range of 18 miles, and with its 13.2-gallon gas tank, achieves a total range of 350 miles.
